This was part of a body of work inspired by using my chainsaw to clear some land on my property. It led to me thinking about the bones I was walking on and the clearcutting of nature and culture. Using tools so destructive to nature created a resolve to reuse and re-contextualize them to create meaning and "re-tool" them for something positive, hopefully reminding the viewer there is another way!

www.petermcfarlane.com Peter McFarlane is an award winning artist, based on Salt Spring Island, whose work is in public and private collections nationally and internationally. Over his career he has worked in a wide variety of mediums particularly in the re-purposing of used objects. What connects all of his work is the re-contextualizing of obsolete everyday objects to create personal philosophies which he hopes will resonate with the viewer on a visceral and/or intellectual level and open up the possibility of a new conceptual experience. He believes waste is just a lack of imagination. He relies on long hours, landfill, personal experience, history, metal recycling and serendipity to make his art. Nationality is Canadian
