“Release” As in: being free from bondage, free of tension, of experiencing sexual release, an emotional release or an opening up to all possibilities. This sculpture is representative of that which is not part of the natural world. This art thus represents a sort of anti-reality in the extreme. This work is the artist's attempt to present a concept and an idea through a dimensional artwork accompanied by relative simplicity in shape, form, texture and color. The pure nature of the form itself effectively cleaves all normal human emotion. The artist believes that a form of actionable emotion is present throughout the artwork. The tactile form presented is believed to be a compelling one, almost demanding that the work be viewed and touched from multiple angles. The many void or empty spaces found within the work is, to the artist, as important to the overall idea and the final concept as presented as is the work's visible and wholly touchable form. The sculpture “Release” is termed as non-objective art; a sub-type of abstract art which is usually, but not always, geometric and which itself aims to convey to the viewer a sense of simplicity, form, color and purity. Also known as concrete art, non-objective art is art often created through any number of media which may be devoid of any physical references to the the natural world. Non-objective art creates a novel abstract art form from elements that in and of themselves may mean almost nothing. Very much open to interpretation, there remains, nevertheless, a true clearness of and a directness of mind. Note the three solid forms present on the right side of the piece which may be interpreted as then effectively releasing themselves into totally new and different forms. This wholly original work is made of steel bars and steel rods, wood, wire mesh, stone and heavy Apoxie sculpting material. The final work is been completed in gold leaf, accented by an antique noir glaze. The artwork measures approximately 11.5 by 12 by 10 inches. The sculpture weighs about 7 pounds. It should be noted that no prints or copies in any format will be offered for sale. This unusual abstract artwork is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom of the piece. A Certificate of Authenticity will also accompany the sold work. "Release" has as of June, 2019 been reduced 15% to $1462, but the collector may also feel free to make their best offer to the artist.

My artwork, I believe, is just part of an endless learning process that moves me one more step toward successfully rendering my own unique and personal vision of the world. I have been on this planet for quite awhile; some seventy-odd years, in fact. I was born and raised in the Dallas, Texas area and I live in Mesquite, Texas, a large suburb of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro-plex. I hold two degrees from a New York University; one of them a Masters degree. I previously also completed graduate work in Ethics and Conflict Resolution at Southern Methodist University. By profession, for over forty years I was at one time or another, an accountant, a CFO, and a financial analyst prior to my early retirement in 2009. Most of those years were spent in the petroleum and banking industries. Some would likely call me a late bloomer because both of my degrees didn't come along until I was well into my forties and fifties. I have been interested in photography all my life, but I didn't really discover the art world and become an avid participant until about ten or twelve years ago. That said, my interests are rather wide-ranging. I write and have published poetry, articles, essays and novels. I am an amateur radio operator, I play several musical instruments, my favorite being the piano, and finally, my wife and I own two gorgeous convertibles that are more than ready for participation in all the local car shows. My artwork and my photography is held in a number of private collections throughout the world. I have experimented with abstract sculpture and painting and multi-media work, but find that I generally prefer drawing. My favorite subject is studies of the human face; with an appreciative focus on all things feminine. I'm quite content to share my art with those who appreciate my work for whatever it might mean to them. I can't think of any awards or prizes I've won for my artwork, but I have to say I'm not all that interested in competition, but I am more interested in producing art that means something to me and suits my tastes and goals. In short, I feel I am a man who has lived long enough and has experienced enough of the world to truly appreciate the incredible beauty of our world and what it offers us. In particular, I also appreciate being given the opportunity to record the human spirit as I personally see it and to thereby create my own personal impressions of some of the interesting people who inhabit it.
