Bruce Gray served as an electronics technician for 4 years in the Coast Guard right after high school. He then went to the University of Massachusetts on the GI Bill where he received a BFA in Design in 1983. He then worked as a photographer and then as a designer and graphic artist at an advertising agency in Boston. Bruce kept wanting to do his own work in the fine arts, so he moved to Los Angeles in 1989 and started making his sculptures full time. He works in a wide range of styles and mediums which include abstract painting, functional art, giant objects, abstract and figurative sculptures, found object assemblages, and various forms of kinetic art including mobiles, rolling ball machines, suspended magnet sculptures, stabiles, and more. Bruce's work has been exhibited worldwide, has appeared in over 45 books and countless times on television, in movies, and in the press. Some of his public art sculptures include permanent projects for The Rolling Ball Museum (Seoul, Korea), The Kentucky Museum, Children's Hospital Boston, Edwards Air Force Base, Little Rock National Airport, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Vanderbilt University, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Embassy Suites (Ontario, CA), Doubletree Hotel (Burlingame, CA), NBC Universal Studios, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, A&M Records, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, Loudoun Station Virginia, Valley Children's Hospital, Union Station Pottsville, and Morgantown Jet Center.
