Turning a bowl is much fun and I hope you enjoy. Wood is always changing because it is alive. I've found turning wood is a labor of love in trying to control something uncontrolable. The end result is the finale of a pissing match between me and and the laws of nature. I don't usualy get my way, but this one is special. The wood was from a fallen tree at my studio in Canton, Massachusetts. I belive it is from an ash tree. The wood has some spalting, which is a desired natural pattern in the wood that is caused from fungi at the beginning stages of decomposition. The wood was processed and air dried for two years before I started the process of turning a vessel. There is a lot of bark inclusion in this piece and that is a rarity and sought after. The woods natural coloring is beautiful and was brought out with a clear finish of Danish Oil.

Handy and creative. I build things that I want in my world and sculpture is a good label for what comes of that. I have worked in most mediums, but presently wood and metal preoccupied my time. I live in Southie, South Boston, MA and have a studio just south in Canton, MA
