ABOUT THE ARTWORK
For a long time now I often use old family-photographs as references for my paintings. I then take the depicted persons out of their surroundings and put them in a new context. For this series ("Spuren") I reversed my creative process. I transfer-printed a photography onto a piece of cardboard I normally like to use for paintings. After cutting out the silhouette of the person I refilled it with binder and acrylic-paint. This work deals more with the absence of people that were once with us.
