Stairway Sculpture

This piece represents movement. It is static, but appears kinetic. It is part of a series of rotation I worked on showing movement in a static form. I love the way this one stacks and stays very consistent. it was built purely by eye without measuring anything out. I prefer to work with my eye and leave out measurements whenever possible as I feel that any specific restrictions can limit its possibilities. When I build a piece like this, I usually work until it feels complete, without a preconceived size or requirement that I try to follow. I don't like to limit my work and prefer to start with an idea and let it evolve as I go. I try to listen to the energy in the material as it plays an important role in the design of the piece.
