Sculpture: Neon, Steel, Wood on Steel, Glass, Wood.
Housed, as it is in a perfect square of lacquered pearlescent white, the oxidised steel plate with its savagely flame cut edges alludes to man’s imperfection and ever present quest to attain a state of enlightenment. This is further identified, as at the centre of the steel plate, what are apparently a pair of random holes now reveal the snow white neon glow of the word Fo... Chinese phonetic pronunciation for Buddha. Ultimately in its juxtaposition of the perfect and the flawed, the work is representative of a contemplative Zen like serenity and circularity.
