About The Artwork
The work is inspired by the myth of the bird man of the island of Rapa Nui. The piece is part of a series of works inspired by the human world that blends with that animal. They are all subjects that manifest something animalistic and also human: in this case instinct, strength and unchangeable beauty, but also doubt, reflection and indecision. The piece is a terracotta coated with acrylic paints. There are small cracks on the piece that do not affect the stability of the piece. I liked to leave them visible because they are perfectly in accordance with the meaning of the artwork.
