A starburst motif, in contrasting brown pigment, is hand-carved into the orange terracotta-colored encaustic wax surface. One of a kind. Signed and dated on the back. Display The artwork comprises a sturdy substrate made of reclaimed wood and is ready to hang on the wall as-is. Metal French cleat hardware is provided. For shipping, larger sculptures may arrive in two separate but interlocking segments joined together at installation. Care Encaustic art involves fusing pigment and heated beeswax and damar resin on the surface of the substrate. Encaustic art is a historical technique and is archival. Treat an encaustic artwork with care when transporting, hanging, and displaying, just as you would any work of fine art. Hang and store at normal indoor room temperatures. Do not wrap the surface in plastic. Avoid freezing and extremely hot temperatures; wax will melt at 150°F / 65°C.
