About The Artwork
This project seeks to highlight the value of the botanical resources extracted from the Andean territory during the conquest at the beginning of the XVI century. The work "Gift of Indians, of Spanish candy" uses one of the first descriptions of the potato, written by the chronicler Juan de Castellanos in 1537, as a support for native potatoes of Ecuador coated with gold, silver, and copper.
