Elizaveta works with glass mosaic. Her sculptures are constructed from carefully cut pieces of colored glass, with each element chosen for its hue, angle, and reflection of light. She is interested in the moment when a hard, cold material begins to glow from within and come to life. Every small fragment—its color, angle, and cut—matters to the final image. Her practice is rooted in manual, almost craft-based work. Through repetition and meticulous attention to the material, a meditative state emerges. For her, mosaic is a way of gathering light from fragments, a search for wholeness in a place where everything initially appears broken or separated. Madina and Sabina paint with acrylics using a pointillist technique, constructing scenes of children and their pets through rhythmic sequences of small dots. In addition, they also create highly unique works in plasticine, likewise executed in a pointillist manner. These pieces are built from thousands of tiny spheres, each one individually rolled and placed by hand. As in their paintings, the image emerges through patience, repetition, and attention to detail. The tactile quality of the material adds an extra layer to their work: the dots are not only visible, but physically present and tangible. In this way, two sisters translate pointillism into a sculptural form, in which time, care, and bodily involvement play an essential role. At first glance, glass mosaic and pointillism belong to different traditions. Yet in this project they reveal a shared logic: a meditative, repetitive act that transforms a multitude of small marks into a coherent image. The viewer is invited to shift between two positions—standing close enough to perceive each shard and dot, and stepping back to see how they come together to form figures, faces, and quiet narratives. Children and animals often appear in the work of Madina and Sabina, embodying a world of trust, openness, and vulnerability. Their paintings capture small, intimate moments: a shared glance, a familiar gesture, the everyday closeness between a child and his or her companion. Elizaveta's mosaics reflect this same attention to inner light, gathering brightness from fragments of glass and arranging them into images that feel both solid and translucent.
