Chrisothemis Perdikea Kirimi, known as Themis, is a modern scuptor whose work is distinguished mainly for its poignant messages, symbolism and vitality. Although she mainly creates realistic works of art, she occasionally combines fantasy with more abstract forms. She is primarily inspired by world mythology, and more specifically the Greek. Her works also include influences by the metaphysical, parapsychology, surrealism, fashion, the Bible, animals, the Middle Ages, ancient civilizations, fairy tales, nature, and modern society. She endeavors to get her message across with either artful mystery or in an overt, captivating and elegant manner. For this very reason her works are the final touch that one needs in an artful, inventive, creative as well as intense and elegant decor. It is a new art form which combines abstract sculptural pieces in conjunction with the realistic. Another striking feature in Themis’ work are the recurring motifs created on the sculptures, such as animal fur and disctinctive fingerprints on the figures. A reference point of her work is also the base on which the sculpture stands, which she first designs and then constructs herself, making sure it matches and harmonizes with the sculpture and its story, thereby amalgamating the two pieces. The facial expressions, bright colors, and golden patinas, which are more pronounced on the face, are also an integral and characteristic aspect of her work. The main materials used in her sculpting work is clay, epoxy, and polymer clay. All original works have a very sturdy infrastructure which includes brass tubes, epoxy and aluminum. Themis collaborates with the best foundries in her desire to create original pieces in Limited edition collections of 12 pieces each, mainly crafted from bronze and an array of coatings, but also resin. Her pieces are all sealed and certified both by herself and the cooperating foundries, guaranteeing 12 pieces of the original, 8 which are numbered, and 4 in Roman numerals. Her work is arranged mainly in collections, so that the general public and potential buyers cannot only collect them but also learn more about them. The artist herself also has a passion for photography and makes sure to update her followers through her social media by posting new works and backstage material.
