The Wave Sculpture

This sculpture is part of a collection "Smooth curves". Most of the works of this collection are created of white alabaster and of this rather rare swedish marble. One is made of black granite. The idea of ​​these forms is to break the generally accepted perception of stone as a hard and static material and express motion. These stones gives the feeling that they can start to move in every second. Sculpture Wave express a dynamic tension. It is rolling. A wave in the sea. And it has the color of a wave in the sea. I like to simplificate forms to the minimalistic and I like the soft shadows in the curves. It is interesting to observe the changing intensity of light and shadows in such a white sculpture during the day. When lighted in the darknes it changes even more. For me the Wave represents water but it is also very aerial. Thought it has a smooth surface the crystals can be seen glittering. I believe this sculpture makes the observer forget about its weight. Why do I chose stone as medium? In this case because I love marble. And generally because it is durable, beautiful and ancient as the planet itself.
