A self-taught sculptor born in Miri, Sarawak Borneo but based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore. Working primarily with concrete and mixed materials, Jenny creates sculptural wall reliefs and object-based works that explore memory, architecture, and the quiet permanence of material. Her practice is defined by recessed chambers, veiled surfaces, and an embedded glyph language that appears across series as a system of continuity - marks that function as residue and witness rather than direct narrative. Each work is developed through a process-led approach shaped by intuitive adjustment and material response, allowing erosion, density, and gravity to influence the final form. Alongside her primary sculptures, selected works extend into discreet companion artifacts created as private elements of the collector experience - reinforcing her interest in sculptures not only as an object, but as a lasting relic of meaning. ARTIST STATEMENT I build sculpture as architecture - structured, enduring, and designed to hold presence. Concrete is central to my practice for its permanence and its ability to carry time. Within each work, I carve chambers, recesses, and veiled thresholds that suggest interior space. Hidden glyphs and embedded marks form an ongoing system across my series - a language of fragments that remain s partially concealed. My process begins from the ground up. Many works are developed face-down, guided by gravity and material behavior, then refined through erosion, layering, and precision carving. I am interested in restraint - how silence can be constructed, how absence can become weight, and how a surface can hold memory without explanation.
