About The Artwork

I was dreaming of my future one day while at work which I considered a 'dead end' job. Hoping that things would get better for me, I drew this image of a female on the edge of a cliff getting ready to take flight, as she leaned into the wind and prepared herself for a better future. I hope its viewers will feel the same positive feeling I did when sculpting this piece. The moment being when you realize that you can achieve your goals as long as you stay focused on them. I choose silicon bronze to produce the sculpture in this style of figurative art.

Biography Andrea Paolino is a native of Southern California. While attending college she spent three years in Florence, Italy attending Accademia di Belle Arte and Villa Schifanoia on fellowships, scholarships and grants. Upon her return to Southern California, she completed her terminal degree in Sculpture at California State University, Long Beach. During her tenure there she developed her technique of sculptural development through her use of photographic study. Although the sculpture she makes and photography she shoots are interwoven techniques, her two dimensional and three dimensional work have become their own art form. As she works with a new idea for a sculpture, she explores shapes in black and white photography, develops a proof of concept drawing and finally the sculpture. The photography becomes its own form of art as the drawing acts as a connection point to the final idea for the sculpture in three dimensions.
