About The Artwork
Christoph Robausch prefers the material aluminum in material thicknesses and degrees of softness that still allow him to process the material by hand. The dynamic transitions from the deformed surface to the spatial body result in unusual shapes with organic structures. Through further manual acts of compression and processing with the finest abrasive fleece, the initially superficial color gradients from waterproof ink are worked deeper into the metal again. His idiosyncratic way of working gives his works a mysterious, timeless aura. The base segment is filled with sealed concrete, the other segments consist of a light, very stable load-bearing structure. The aluminum shell is corrosion-resistant. The essence of his objects is the specially designed supporting structure - currently - coated with aluminium. Painted with india ink and hand-sanded with diamond abrasive, his artworks create a timeless depth, with a unique atmosphere.
