Olshbau is a two-person studio based in Poland, founded by a husband and wife with backgrounds in journalism, photography, and industrial design. The duo creates hand-built wall sculptures and geometric compositions using cardboard, paper, and acrylic paint. Their work is deeply influenced by the visual systems of Bauhaus and Suprematism, reinterpreting modernist abstraction through humble, tactile materials. Each piece is constructed layer by layer, starting from hand sketches and developed into low-relief forms that often suggest shields, diagrams, or abstract portraits. Many of their sculptures are rotatable, inviting viewers to engage with shifting meanings and spatial rhythms. Olshbau’s practice reflects a fascination with design as visual language — how structure, color, and proportion can quietly persuade or provoke. Their work is a study in tension: between control and softness, logic and feeling, message and form.
