About The Artwork
My every day life is immersed in biology, science, life and death. I use many materials to form my creations and like many artists, use the things that are commonly available to me in an uncommon way. Ultimately I think that all great art emulates the natural world. I am conscious of the microscopic reality that surrounds us and I try to imagine it on a constant basis. It consumes me; I visualize it, and find solitude within it. I see pieces within pieces; all working together to form our reality. The longer I live, the more I understand our reality to be paradoxical. Without death life cannot exist. Like the Ouroboros, this sculpture represents the symmetry of our world and life that is born from death. It represents Us. Each tile imperfect in form joining another to from the tree of our existence. From many there is One.
