ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This Venus was made in Heerlen (Roman name: Coriovallum) a small town in the south of the Netherlands. In Roman times the place was already a small village because it was situated on the crossroads of two important roads. In the last decades a lot of excavations have taken place and deep in the soil the archeologists found the most wonderful objects, mostly vessels. This small Venus points to this part of history. The artwork goes on a stone base.
