My name is Alex Soffer, a Brooklyn-based artist with a deep connection to the world of creating. The catalyst for my artistic journey came during a challenging period in my life when my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at a young age. This experience reignited my desire to create as a means of emotional release and self-expression. As I navigated through the complexities of my father's illness and the emotional rollercoaster of IVF treatment, painting became my sanctuary. The canvas became my confidant, allowing me to explore and process my feelings in a visual and cathartic manner. Through these experiences, my artistic abilities flourished, and my passion for creating only intensified. Drawing inspiration from the intricacies of life, I am captivated by the interplay of texture, movement and fluidity in my work. These elements serve as a means of storytelling, reflecting the depth of my personal narrative. The sea has always held a special place in my heart - a place where I find peace amidst the crashing waves and endless expanse of sand. The memories of sun-kissed family vacations on the shore, the feeling of warm sand between my toes, and the salty breeze in the air is etched in my soul. In my work, I incorporate sand as a way to evoke these cherished memories. The textures, colors and movement of the sand inspires me, serving as a symbolic representation of the passage of time, the ebb and flow of life and the beauty of impermanence. Each layer of sand is a reflection of the deep connection many people have with the beach and the profound impact it has on so many. The shore is not just a medium in my work, it is a part of my identity, a source of inspiration that fuels my artistic vision and drives me to create work that resonates with the beauty of the natural world. ​ When I am not immersed in art, I find fulfillment as a devoted mother to two vibrant children and a loving wife to a supportive husband who nurtures my artistic endeavors. ​ Art has become an integral part of my journey, serving as a source of solace, inspiration and creative expression in the ever-evolving tapestry of life.
