ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In Shona culture, there is always a wise man in traditional villages. The role of the wise man is to advise the chief on important issues. The wise man has spiritual gifts that guide him through dreaming or prophesying – through the guidance of a spirit medium. Robert focuses on this area, and although he believes in tradition, he also suggests that some of these abilities of the wise men are just natural intelligence.
