ABOUT THE ARTWORK
These and some other works by me are inspired by the wonderful exhibition catalog, the Horst Antes collection "Aklama - Helping Spirits of Ewe and Dangme". These little figures stand as auxiliary gods or spirits of the everyday and mediator between the worlds. This is the basic feeling that underlies all my figures, they are not just objects, they are companions, good fellows, a reflection surface. this figure stands for the proud and self-confident wearing of one's own meandering self. the statue is made of basswood, the stand of stained and varnished pinewood.
