ABOUT THE ARTWORK
(italics) is a wall-hung sculpture that is part of my series that deconstructs and celebrates typography. It combines plasma-cut 1/8" steel (with a rust patina), with mixed woods (mainly beech and poplar) with bits of paint. It is ready to hang, and because it is light-weight it does not require any special hanging devices or wall studs for support.

I am a sculptor whose works have been exhibited in museums and art galleries throughout the United States. I was born in Detroit, Michigan USA and now work from my studio in Highland Park, Michigan (an enclave of Detroit.) My sculpture is almost entirely abstract. I began working predominantly in clay, and then steel, and more recently I often work in wood. My work is distinguished by my use of contrasting materials, textures, and the juxtaposition of the organic and the industrial. My sculpture is also informed by my work as a graphic designer, a field in which I have also worked steadily.
