About The Artwork

"The Wiener Ballon Dog," in memory of my childhood wiener dog (dachshund), lily, a feisty and loyal companion. The sculpture is a whimsical exploration of imaginative form and character rendered with smooth curves as well as sleek lines, evoking a sense of playfulness and personality that is impossible to ignore. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the sculpture captures the essence of a dachhund’s elongated body. The decoupage fuses found images from tadanori yokoo, david lachapelle, and my original artwork on a koonst inspired sculpture of the wiener dog. The layer of collage enhances the visual appeal, drawing the audience for a closer inspection to appreciate the intricate craftsmanship and subtle nuances. A harmonious and balanced composition that is both dynamic and captivating, the sculpture captures the spirited playful nature of the dachshund, inviting viewers to connect with its endearing charm on an emotional level. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, "The Wiener Dog" explores themes of companionship, loyalty, and the bond between humans and animals. Through its universal symbolism and timeless appeal, the sculpture resonates with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, transcending cultural boundaries to evoke feelings of joy, nostalgia, and wonder.

My work is deeply rooted and influenced by the rich tradition of Hanakotoba (花言葉), the Japanese language of flowers. Drawing inspiration from this centuries-old practice, I seek to imbue my abstract paintings with layers of meaning and emotion, creating a visual dialogue that resonates with viewers on a profound level. Informed by my background in mixed media and a keen understanding of color theory, I explore the symbolic significance of flowers as a means of communication. Each brushstroke, texture, and hue is carefully chosen to convey a specific sentiment or message, allowing the viewer to interpret the work in their own unique way. Through my art, I aim to create moments of connection and contemplation, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the beauty and complexity of the natural world. Whether evoking feelings of love, gratitude, or resilience, my paintings serve as a mirror to the human experience, offering a glimpse into the universal language of the heart. In essence, my work is a celebration of the power of art to transcend language and culture, uniting us in our shared humanity. By engaging with the vocabulary of Hanakotoba, I hope to inspire others to see the world with fresh eyes and to find beauty and meaning in the most unexpected places.
