Gonzalo Leal

I was born in Venezuela (1982) into a musical family and sensitive about art. I first was introduced to graphic arts like design, which I studied later, at the same time doing art school Martin Tovar y Tovar many disciplines like drawing, painting, xylography, hydrography, photography.

I’ve been living in Barcelona, Spain for the last 14 years now and along these years is a very inspiring city and the amount of art and art movements going around.

My inspiration can come from any place or sound, from classic artists and artistic movements to music, photography, sculpture, etc. Is a feeling I usually look for and feel inspired for, so anything that brings me closer to that feeling becomes an inspiration.

My work is an expression of my own inner language, which comes from a place of stillness and intention.

When I paint I usually start with a clear vision of what the final result will look like - which might come to me while I sleep or while I'm walking down the street. The material I choose to paint on and the process that goes into creation is completely unpredictable, which feeds the energy from which I then create.
