I create digital paintings based on wildlife I’ve photographed while traveling in Africa. My work blends the graphic simplicity of woodcut and graphic-novel art with the quiet, observant nature of field photography. Each portrait begins as a moment in the bush — a still buffalo at water, a leopard resting in shadow, the calm intelligence of primates — and is then rebuilt digitally, layer by layer, until the animal feels timeless, iconic, and present.
I’m drawn less to spectacle and more to reverence. These works are meant as portraits — not of species, but of individuals — honoring the character and life within them. My hope is that the Studio Series creates a sense of connection to the wild places and animals that still exist beyond our human world, and reminds us how much there is to respect and protect.
East by South Artistry is my ongoing fine-art project inspired by African wildlife and landscapes. My work blends digital painting with a carved-wood aesthetic, creating contemporary wildlife portraiture and tonal landscapes.
