Sophia Harms-van Estrik, sculptor in Amsterdam

Statues at liberty and business masterpieces.
In my sculptures I look for expressing of the most essential: the emotion. People and animals inspire me, but a good story does it as well, or a remarkable shape or an extraordinary stone. The result can be figurative or abstract – I follow my intuition to find the most appropriate form of expression, in bronze, stone or marble.

Classic Schooling and skills were, amongst others, taught in The Netherlands by Jos van Oosterhout at the Gooise Academy for Expressive Arts in Laren and Leo van den Bos in Amsterdam.

My works at liberty are found in private collections, with the same dedication I execute commissions such as (family)portraits, company logos, or a present for a special occasion

Abroad Sophia followed tuition at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France and The Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. The education was strictly classical at both schools. At he Europäische Kunstakademie in Trier, Germany, she learnt the skills for sculpting figures of people in true life size.
