Arthur Koopmans

HI, I am Arthur Koopmans, a watercolor painter born and raised in the green heartland of Holland.

My paintings reflect the landscape and moods of the places that I am deeply familiar with. The best inspiration comes when I see a subject or a certain light condition that suddenly grabs my attention. Some subjects simply want to be painted.

I would describe the style of my paintings as uniting the looseness and light of impressionism, and the eye for detail and delicacy of realism.

As an artist, I am self-taught, drawing on a lifetime of experience in different mediums, both traditional and digital. Eventually, I fell in love with the watercolor medium.

Working with the unpredictability and transparency of water adds an extra dimension of light and life to the painting.

My first watercolor exhibitions earned me a first price and an honorable mention. I am planning to hold more exhibitions in the coming times, based on the locations I have painted.
