Katrina Marie

Katrina Marie is an Upstate New York-based visual artist and writer whose work explores color, pattern, movement, nature, and decorative form through painting, drawing, and mixed media.

She describes her visual language as folk baroque, bringing the intuitive, handmade character of folk traditions together with a love of ornament, abundance, expressive detail, and richly layered compositions.

Following many years working in art licensing and decorative art, she is placing renewed emphasis on her original studio practice. Her process combines spontaneity with underlying structure, allowing color, shape, pattern, and recurring forms to develop intuitively as each piece evolves.

Influenced by folk art, ornamental traditions, and the organic rhythms of the natural world, her paintings embrace bold color, visual movement, and the imperfect beauty of the handmade mark. Drawn especially to botanical forms, scrolling ornament, repetition, and layered abundance, she explores the echoes between our interior lives and the patterns found throughout the natural world.
