Clara Baik is a Korean painter who reimagines cultural heritage through a contemporary lens. Drawing on history, myth, and folklore, her work explores stories that embody happiness, hope, and encouragement.
Having lived in Korea, Myanmar, China, and now Spain, she carries diverse cultural influences while remaining deeply rooted in Korean traditions. These experiences shape her paintings into symbolic guardians and companions—figures that stand quietly beside us like trusted friends.
Her recent series The Guardians breathes new life into age-old protectors, transforming them into warm presences that bring courage and comfort in uncertain times. In To the Moon, she turns to symbols of prosperity and resilience, imagining whimsical companions—turtles, toads, pigs, and plants—journeying skyward toward the moon, carrying luck and quiet encouragement along the way.
Through her art, Clara creates spaces where myth and imagination converge, offering gentle presences that invite joy, resilience, and a renewed sense of hope in everyday life.
