Alejandro Viana

Alejandro Viana (b. 1976), visual artist, together with his brother and colleague Hugo Viana (b. 1973), have developed a collaborative artistic production, using several medias like drawing, painting, sculpture, multimedia installations and “in situ” spatial interventions, in others, to configure artworks with intimate, symbolic and anthropological remarkable components, that encourage a continuous reflection on the restricted or expanded categories within the aesthetic panorama of the contemporary visual arts, also a debate between the most primitives human being actions and the own meaning of contemporary art, in terms of cultural decipherment.

Alejandro Viana is master in visual arts with academic studies at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Caldas (Manizales-Col.), in the Academy Superior Arts Bogotá (ASAB) of the District University Francisco José de Caldas (Bogotá D.C., Col.) and the School of San Carlos of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, (Valencia, Spain).

Their individual or collective participation, has been commendable inside national and international curatorial project platforms. Furthermore, as artist guests, his artworks have been exhibited and cataloged by cultural centers, galleries, museums and also included in public and private collections of Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, United States, Sweden, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, among others countries. Actuality, the Viana brothers live and work in Colombia.
