I am a Light Sculptor. I also make some rather fantastic Light Ray Photographs if I may say so myself. How that happened...
You must understand Light Sculptures first: They are made by mounting pieces of NASA-originated dichroic glass on walls and then with strategically placed special tiny spotlights projecting dramatic light rays on the wall (or ceiling or inside a shadow box). It is painting with light actually. The art of creation is in knowing how to change the vibrancy, size, shapes and tone of the light rays by altering shapes of the glass, angles, and relationship of glass pieces by proximity to one another. I have created Light Sculptures 30" wide up to 30' wide and 36" high to 12' high. By using more glass and more lamps I can cover a gymnasium sized lobby wall.
It was years later that I noticed that by photographing small sections of the backgrounds of Light Sculptures and blowing them up I could create magnificent photographic art.
As you will see on my pages.
Light Sculptures are custom-made for businesses, museums and private collectors for their homes. These are installations and indoor pieces range from $9,000 up to $90,000. Outside pieces can be more.
