Asta Frei

I am a professional artist and illustrator. Although I trained as a restorer of wall paintings and bas-reliefs, I chose to pursue painting professionally.

In my work, I place great emphasis on depth, texture, the visual qualities of traditional materials, and a high level of detail. I deliberately avoid limiting myself to particular materials or subjects. Every new piece is first and foremost an engaging artistic challenge—an opportunity to explore a new technique, understand a material more deeply, or simply see whether I can bring an idea to life exactly as I imagine it.

I draw inspiration from classical art, mythology, and magical themes, but what drives my work most is the creative process itself and the satisfaction of solving complex artistic challenges.
