Born in Phalaborwa on the edge of Kruger National Park, I grew up with wildlife at the doorstep and art in my bloodstream. After military service and years in Namibia’s mines, Europe’s galleries, and Rhodesia’s television industry, I moved to Australia in 1980 and became a film director specialising in TV commercials—while never stopping painting and sketching. Now, at 75 and losing sight from macular degeneration, I’m preparing what may be my final exhibition of large-scale charcoal horse sketches. A lack of sight is not a lack of vision.
