Aunia Kahn

Aunia Kahn is a visual artist and curator working in gouache, acrylic, and colored pencil, creating layered compositions that weave personal narrative with rich cultural symbolism.

Recognized as the originator of Contemporary Symbolist Folk, a lineage rooted in folk tradition, symbolic depth, and personal mythos. Kahn’s paintings draw from French Canadian, German, and Polish folk traditions, Pre-Raphaelite and Surrealist lineages, and the natural world, exploring sanctuary, transformation, and the threshold between life and death through women, animals, and nature in vibrant color palettes and bold decorative patterning.

Her work has been exhibited at the San Diego Art Institute, St. Louis Art Museum, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Thinkspace Projects, Modern Eden Gallery and Harman Projects, among others across 10 countries. She has curated national and international exhibitions and been featured in My Modern Met, Colossal, Create! Magazine, Yahoo, Prevention Magazine, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine and Authority Magazine.
