Austen O’Hanlon is a painter focusing on observations from street scenes. He has a fascination for people and how they respond to their environment. The depiction of the street is treated as a meditation on space; the paintings consider the intriguing relationship between representation and subjective expression. The space within the painting has an indeterminable duration and figures set within the space offer a glimpse in to the memory of the artist. The potency of images often derives from fragmented or incomplete memories. The incomplete image offers an emotional response to the space.
