Ave Norawuza

I am Ave Norawuza (Bisho, 2002), an imaginative and vulnerable painter and writer based in Johannesburg. I create to give form to unspoken emotions, particularly those of Black South African women and girls. My work is rooted in identity, resilience and vulnerability. Often a brush conveys what words cannot.

I work across painting and poetry, using acrylics, oil pastels and found materials to create texture and depth. I showcase on Instagram and TikTok and connect through process and conversation.
