I am a painter working with watercolor. My painting subjects exist in a shallow space, are composed in a direct manner, and are painted in a simplified realism. Desert plants, still life, and figures are recurring subject choices. The figures are often a version of me. The process of painting develops and expands my initial ideas, which means that I often change my original ideas on the painting surface as I work. I usually paint on Arches 300lb cold press paper using archival grade non-staining watercolor. Both of these choices allow me a certain amount of freedom to manipulate color and shapes.
I am an elected Member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Rocky Mountain Watermedia Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and Allied Artists of America.
My work has received the AWS High Winds Medallion and the AWS Barse Miller Award; the NWS Beverly Green Collection Purchase Award and NWS Blick/Utrecht Purchase Award; the TWSA Master Watercolorist Medallion; and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society's Crest Medal.
I am a Gold Master Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society and a Master Signature Member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, and Watercolor West.
