Barbara St John

My paintings represent my search to express how I respond emotionally to a subject.  My goal is to connect with the viewer and to uplift their spirit. I use my photographs as my starting point, my inspiration. I let my inner voice explore and attempt to convey what has touched my heart. I approach each painting not to reproduce what I see but to interpret my feelings: through color, texture, expressive brushstrokes and the palette knife.

I started my daily paintings on February 13, 2012, in loving memory of my mother. When the year was near completion I decided to continue this journey and am now into my eight year of my miniature studies. I have never missed a day of painting; no matter what life has thrown in my path. I have over 2,500 paintings to date. I post them every day on my blog and Facebook accounts.
Each day is a visual and written journal entry of my experience.
