Baron Von Mandelbrot is a contemporary fine artist specializing in large-scale, highly structural original encaustic works. Operating as a registered studio, the artist fuses ancient, archival mediums with intense, modern structural techniques to explore themes of balance, chaos, cosmic thermodynamics, and organic mystery.

The core of the studio's practice relies on the mastery of multi-layered encaustic (pigmented beeswax and damar resin). Rather than simply painting onto a surface, the artist builds deep, topographical layers of colored wax, frequently integrating a controlled, high-heat shellac burn to force volatile expansions and create pitted, lace-like organic textures reminiscent of ancient Chinese Sang de Boeuf glazes. The surfaces are then meticulously carved by hand using precision sgraffito methods, incising hundreds or thousands of intersecting relief marks that physically trap and refract ambient light.

Elevating the physical craftsmanship of the artwork, every piece is built on a wooden cradled panel.
