RECOGNITION
Natalia Baykalova is a contemporary painter whose work explores tension as both a physical and emotional state.
Her practice centers on the body in motion — in dance, in balance, in suspended gesture. Lines stretch, surfaces resist, and thread becomes an extension of movement rather than decoration.
Working across painting and stitched interventions, Baykalova builds layered compositions where structure meets impulse — where geometry confronts the human hand.
Her works investigate what happens when a gesture is held, pierced, sealed, or transformed.
Each piece carries traces of revision and reconstruction, embracing process as an essential part of meaning.
