"I would like to create artworks in which the harmony of colours and forms resonates with the viewer and conveys a sense that completeness and unity in every person him- or herself can be achieved even in our disconnected modern world. In my work, despite the fragmented shapes, the contrasts and tensions, the final experience is one of beauty and harmony. I think this is symbolic of our lives. All of our perception is partial and fragmented but we can still create a meaningful whole. I hope that the new visual experience of my artworks resonates with the viewers and helps providing the possibility of feeling a little more at home in this world."
Beate Blume typically uses brilliant, vigorous colours and strong contrasts in her artworks. Clear - often geometric - shapes and repetitive elements give a unique rhythm to her paintings, unifying and separating fore- and background at the same time. The artist uses simplified and well-defined forms. The contours of the subject remain mostly naturalistic. To increase the colours' impact Blume uses extensive forms.
