Benjamin Schwartz

Benjamin is a California native who has been living in Paris, France since 2018. This experience launched his most recent collection documenting bread from different boulangeries around the city, which debuted in 2021.

In addition to creating fine art for over 30 years, Benjamin has worked in film and photography, as well as in fashion as a self-taught shoemaker. His current collection is inspired by our connection to history, culture, craftsmanship, and to each other through an everyday object - bread. This has also inspired further steps to connect with international social justice organizations which focus on food waste and access to quality food.

Benjamin has been studying fine art formally since the age of 9. At university he transitioned into film studies and holds a bachelors degree in visual communication, with an emphasis on film production, from California State University Sacramento. During that time, he also spent 2 years studying film at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.
In 2018 he moved to Paris, France, where he completed a masters degree from the Institut Français de la Mode.
