My grandmother was a seamstress. I grew up surrounded by the sound of the sewing machine and closets full of fabric, savoring their scents and textures. This connection to fabric led me to use raw canvas that I select with great care. I cut it, I stretch it and I need to touch it as part of my practice.
I don’t paint on the canvas, but within it. This technique, developed by Helen Frankenthaler, of pouring pigments directly onto the surface is both an inspiration and a subject of research that I’ve been exploring more deeply over time.
Colours also play an essential role : they convey emotional states, moments of calm or surges of energy. The organic, floating forms evoke fragments of mental landscapes. As a sensitive and instinctive abstract work, the layering of colours and forms becomes the vehicle of an emotional language.
Inspired by the movements of the unconscious and impressions drawn from dreams, I create works open to interpretation into which everyone can project their own memories, sensations and imagination.
As a painter and also art teacher, I nourish my practice through a constant dialogue between transmission, experimentation and personal research.
