Bishop Maxim (Vasiljević) is a contemporary painter whose work moves between tradition and living expression. His paintings have been exhibited in Athens, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Belgrade, among other cities, reflecting a dialogue between cultures, memory, and presence.
Deeply shaped by the visual language of Byzantine art, his work draws particular inspiration from the iconographic vision of Stamatis Skliris, where line, color, and movement become carriers of inner life rather than mere representation. His paintings seek not simply to depict, but to reveal—allowing form and color to breathe with a quiet intensity.
Universities of Belgrade, Athens, Sorbonne, Beaux Art
Exhibited in Athens, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Belgrade, with series devoted to Dostoevsky, Tarkovsky, world literature, and the faces and landscapes of San Francisco.
