Born in Melbourne, Australia, 1965 Peters first success as an artist came at the tender age of 5 when he won the local school art prize, coincidentally the winning work had a sporting theme which was a painting of the famous Melbourne Cup winning Gunsynd the Goondiwindi Grey. So began a lifetime of art and sport with strong influences from Brett Whiteley, Francis Bacon and Arthur Boyd. Peters work is deeply rooted in the everyday by observing and experiencing at all levels Peter has a unique ability to tell it how it really is and within a painting engage the viewing experience by winning the battle of form verses content.
As an artist sport is an omnipresent and emotional foundation to the majority of my work and little wonder as I live and work on Jolimont Terrace East Melbourne within 50 metres of the nations most important sporting cathedral and one of the world's largest sporting stadiums, the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
