Patrick Paquette

I am a Canadian artist based in Quebec. I create contemporary artworks made of paper and straw, each based on a hand-drawn design. Each piece is entirely unique and may incorporate bas-reliefs—or be without bas-reliefs—meticulously carved by hand and then integrated into the final forms.

My works are created with an approach worthy of museum standards, combining technical innovation, master craftsmanship, and a strong and recognizable artistic identity.

With a degree in metal casting and metallurgy, as well as institutional cooking, I also trained in cabinetmaking, wood carving, and tiling. I worked for five years in a small plaster casting company, two years in a steel foundry, and eight years as a plasterer. I drew inspiration from all this knowledge to create unique works of art out of paper and straw, crafting each piece from the initial sketch to the finished product.
