Painter couple from Lunteren
You will find information about both painters here.
Jan Bouwsema works figuratively. The images he paints arise directly from visible reality. Not that he tries to imitate the environment, but he wants to interpret it. His work is characterized by loose keys and soft colors.
Alide Roelofs mainly paints portraits and human figures, in which the atmosphere and the emotion are very important. Her work is characterized by the striking resemblance, not in a photographic way, but painterly.
Alide and Jan also make paintings together.
Collaboration takes place especially with portraits in somewhat larger sizes.
Jan paints with loose intuitive keys and Alide works with striking certainty!
As a result, form and resemblance are well taken, and the painting acquires a
dynamic appearance.
You can see these paintings on the page "collaboration".

Using visual means such as color, shape, line and composition, he tries to find a balance between abstraction and figuration.
Alide Bouwsema-Roelofs (1964) followed the teacher training in drawing and crafts in Zwolle. In addition to her work as a portraitist, she teaches visual subjects at a secondary school.
She paints many portraits and human figures, both on commission and in her free work. She usually paints with acrylic on canvas, but she also makes work in watercolor. Alide tries to reproduce a certain mood, in which light, color, soft shapes and keys are importan...
