Brad MacKenzie has lived full-time on Sanibel Island since January 2019. Beginning in 2016, he has exhibited his art in Maine and on Sanibel and Captiva. He joined the Board of the Sanibel Captiva Art League in 2020.
His urge to create visual art springs from a desire to reveal the mysteries of making art, the subjects of art, and the objectives of art. Painting in oil, and drawing in a variety of mediums, his images capture a spark of something familiar, but not quite tangible, that resonates with our shared experiences or flickers with the joy of the moment.
He raises bees and encourages butterflies and birds to join the fruit, vegetable and wildflower gardens in the yard he shares with his partner, Andrea. He was raised in Washington D.C. and has lived in places of great natural beauty, including the Adirondacks, northern California, Telluride, Cape Cod and the Islands, Islesboro, Maine, and the Virgin Islands.
