I am a Biologist, artist, conservationist dedicating my art and work to raising and researching butterflies.
I take a photograph and apply modern technology to the image to bring out what is hidden inside. It is not much different than taking a specimen and placing it under a light microscope or in an electron microscope to see the unseen. By applying modern digital photographic filters to an image I am able to pull and stretch the fabric of what really comprises the image. It reminds me of a particle collider smashing apart matter to see the inner beauty of ever smaller pieces of the previously unseen.
I take photos primarily of butterflies and flowers. I pull the images apart to see what greater beauty lies underneath.
Biologist paper degree. No "paper degree in art". My works have ranged from building instruments, furniture, stone sculpture, bamboo sculpture, wood etching/burning, drawing/illustrations, silversmithing. I am a a very serious botanist having a collection of 164 species of plants on my modest 1/4 acre plot that I call home. My current artistic focus is photography with minor manipulation. I am a neophyte at photomanipulation but that is ok by me as long as the final image gets the feeling across.
